Personal biography of Catherine Martindale

Catherine Martindale is an experienced and qualified riding instructor. Catherine has been riding since, she was four years old. Catherine was a member of Cannibal Creek Pony Club for 16 years, competing at the top end of Pony club from the age of 14, and now actively and successfully competes in Equestrian Federation of Australia (EA) events.

 

Catherine is a NCAS Level 2 eventing specialist coach and coach educator who has competed up to 4 star level. Catherine would regularly campaign up to 5 horses at a time, so has a great knowledge of preparing a whole team of horses for competition. Catherine still actively competes her own homebred horses regularly, currently focusing on Dressage.

 

Catherine's experience, enables her to teach all levels of riding. From the beginning of a person's first ride or equine experience, through to training the most serious competitor. Catherine currently teaches Jumping and Dressage at different Pony Clubs, and adult riding clubs in the Gippsland and Metropolitan areas. Starting with basic trot poles then progressing up to more advanced grid work. Safety and building a person's confidence is the key to her teaching methods.

Catherine also has her Victorian Racehorse Trainer’s license. This required an additional 2 years of TAFE training, which has enhanced her knowledge of horse husbandry and handling skills. Furthermore, maximizing Catherine's teaching skillsets. This has allowed numerous students to enter employment in the racing industry, with a good foundation and access to the relevant industry tickets.

About Hazelwood Lodge

 

Hazelwood Lodge is set on 31 ac in the Latrobe Valley. It has a fully enclosed 65 x 25 m sand arena, 800 m sand track, undercover brick round yard, numerous covered day yards and horse wash. Hazelwood Lodges offers a variety of activities to enhance people's riding skills in a safe supervised environment. This is achieved by matching each person's ability to our horses or ponies. Children are taught to care for and maintain their horse or pony in a fun environment. Different activities such as dressage, jumping, games and activities are designed to give people confidence on their mounts. These activities are all tailored to the individual ability of each person.

Catherine gives lessons in practical Horse mastership that is tailored to suit the age and experience of each individual person.
